HARDLY FAMOUS had always felt like an outsider, his unique perspective and spiritual practices set him apart. But now, he was truly alone, traumatized by the very people who claimed to help. The drugs they forced upon him, in the name of science and behavior modification, clouded his mind and distorted his once-clear vision. It was a twisted form of art, this psychological torture, a dark dance of the mind that left him reeling. The loss of his religious traditions, the very core of his being, was like a death. He felt stripped of his identity, reprogrammed to fit their perfect mold of conformity. Oh, the irony of it all! In the name of freedom and safety, they took away his liberty to believe and practice his own faith. The war effort, a convenient excuse for their sinister agenda, did nothing to ease the pain of his shattered soul. He knew he was not alone in this suffering, that others had endured similar fates, but it did little to comfort him. The solitude of his torment was all-encompassing, a lonely journey through the shadows of his once-bright world.
