Among cozy light groves a strange dark thicket grows. Tall stubborn trees stand there like columns, their tops seem to become one huge crown and its fleshy leaves almost don’t permit sunlight through, all together it looks like an ancient Mother Nature’s temple. Whenever you come into the thicket, you always feel surrounded by thousands of alive beings staring at you and talking to each other in unknown languages. People living in a village near there call this place Eyewoods and say, even trees have eyes in this forest. If you step into it in the middle of summer you will immediately understand why. Hundreds of round colorful eyes with vertical pupils cover trees trunks and brunches, blinking in dissimilar ways and spinning all the time in different directions. The thing is, it is a breeding season for many kinds of insects and enormous amount of tasty food appears in the forest so all the bark dragons get out of their shelters to hunt. Here and there, flattening themselves against the bark, small weird creatures stand still. Scales covering their skin look like pieces of bark and are overgrown with moss, lichen and mushrooms - that is why their bodies are really hard to be noticed. Local people believe, Eyewoods is a sacred place allowing to see the future to those who have lost their physical vision. It is forbidden to enter there for everybody but blind shamans, who go into the forest to meditate. Bark dragons are quite curious and such an object as a human sitting motionless for hours attracts their attention. Shaman’s body is also a very pleasant place to warm up, so after a while a herd of these creatures covers every inch of it and a meditating shaman starts looking like an old wooden statue of a forgotten deity.
