    My first jackalope doll, finally finished! I started a few months back in the fall, and finally finished now that it's almost summer(life is full of surprises). I tried a couple of new things and learned a lot while making this doll. It is my first time making soft paws and soft ears, usually I make the feet out of clay and the ears out of plastic. Definitely making soft ears from now on, they are about the same amount of work, but they look and feel so much nicer. I'll make soft paws on my tiny dolls and dolls that don't need claws or intricate details on the feet.
    I also made the pattern with the front arms and back as once piece, less seams is better right? Not in this case, I ended up with some slack at the top of the arms, which is ok, but it bugs me haha. The fur, while going the correct direction down the back, does not go the correct direction down the arms(since it is all one piece). This made it very difficult to trim, as the napp goes from left to right across the arm instead of down the arm, but I got it to work for me. Next time I'm also going to skip adding a seam allowance. The fur is somewhat loose around the stuffing, and because of that the arms came out quite a bit thicker than planned. Again, not a big problem, but it's not what I had planned.
   Finally got the hang of moldable thermoplastic while making the antlers. Found out that you can smooth the surface after sculpting by dipping very briefly, letting it cool and repeating a few times. It softens just the outer layer without losing shape.
  This doll is very soft and plush and I'm very happy with it despite the few bumps in the road. lol It is laying in my favorite bunny pose, where the feet stretch out the back.

What's it made of?
?Sculpey Premo! polymer clay face that is hand painted and sealed.
?Aluminum wire armature skeleton
?Quilt batting stuffing
?Home tanned rabbit fur, from cage free rabbits I lovingly raise myself. I use a high quality garment tan that is heavy metal free. The dark brown fur is upcycled from an old stole from the thrift store.
?Hand painted glass cabochon eyes that have a "follow me" effect.
?Signed, numbered, and dated on the chin.
